Weld Pipe Ultrasonic Tester

General Introduction
Ultrasonic Tester (UT) is commonly used in pipe welding industry for pipe body material defect check and weld seam defect check​
2 major types of UT are mostly used for both spiral welded pipe mills and ERW pipe mills

Online seam UT

​For online UT, the device is installed in the production line and continuously performing the ultrasonic test. ​Online UT has the advantage of low investment, easy set-up; however, in normally cases, only seam UT is available in online UT system. 
Online weld seam UT for spiral pipe
it is installed at the exit arm of the mill after welding​
Online weld seam UT for ERW pipes
it is installed after the water cooling section. 

Offline seam and Pipe body UT

Offline ultrasonic equipment is the device to perform ultrasonic test for weld pipes after the pipes are cut off from the production line. 
Although higher investment, this type of UT can fit both body UT and seam UT in one machine and avoids the problem of water affecting weld seam quality.  
Offline weld seam and pipe body UT for spiral pipes
It is installed offline from the major pipe mill.
Offline weld seam and pipe body UT for ERW pipes
It is installed offline from the major pipe mill.
No matter it’s online or offline Ultrasonic Testers, they consist of the mechanical system and the ultrasonic test system. 

The ultra-sonic test system is the core to perform the test. It transmits ultrasonic wave to the test object and receives the return wave to detect the defects of the material.  

Mechanical system is the structure to hold the tester head or transit the pipes and can be adjusted along with the pipe size.
